Vayots Dzor marz is situated on the south of Armenia, and most of its territory consists of uplands with woods and forests. The average temperature in winter is -4°C and +26°C in summer. The Yeghegia and Arpa rivers flow through the territory. The Monastery Complex of Noravank (XII-XVI cc.) is located in the Noravank canyon in the south part of the region. It is rich in flora, medical herbs, wild fruit, springs and animals. There is also a national park containing caves of particular speleological interest.
The marz center is Eghegnadzor is situated on the bank of the Arpa river. In Yeghegnadzor there are monuments preserved from the I millennium BC to XVII c. and there is a museum of regional ethnography. There are also art galleries, parks and a University that recently celebrated its 700th anniversary.Jermuk is a small resort town with cool summers and mild winters surrounded by woods and alpine meadows. It’s mineral waters have also given the town to enlarge into a net of resort-homes and hotels. Situated 2080 meters above sea level, the average temperature in winter is -7°C and in summer +16°C. Jermuk waters can treat gastrointestinal, abdominal, liver and neurotic illnesses. The underground waters are used for drinking, inhalation and other treatments
